• Contacts: If you choose to use social features, we access your phone contacts to identify friends already using CarbonPocket.

2.3. Automatically Collected Data

• Usage Analytics: Information on how you interact with the app, including screens viewed, features used, and session duration.
• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.

3. DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT

We prioritize data minimization. CarbonPocket does not collect:

• Precise GPS location or exact home addresses.
• Government-issued identification numbers.
• Financial account or credit card numbers (all transactions are processed securely via Apple App Store or Google Play Store).
• Biometric or sensitive health data.

4. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We process your data for the following purposes:

• Service Provision: Calculating your carbon footprint and providing personalized reduction recommendations via our AI assistant.
• Social Features: Enabling friend comparisons, rankings, and community challenges.
• Offsetting Management: Processing your carbon offset selections and generating exportable ESG reports.
• App Improvement: Analyzing usage patterns to optimize features and user experience.
• Communication: Sending essential service updates and, if opted-in, sustainability tips.

5. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• With Other Users: If you use social features, your name, profile picture, and carbon footprint data (monthly/yearly totals and streaks) will be visible to your connected friends.
• Service Providers: We use trusted third parties for cloud hosting (e.g., AWS/Google Cloud) and analytics (e.g., Firebase).
• Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

6. DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the services. You may request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the app settings.

CarbonPocket is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware of such collection, we will take steps to delete the information immediately.
