Understand clearly and transparently how Carbon Pocket calculates, offsets, and neutralizes your emissions — and what your rights and obligations are when using the service.
Platform / App: the Carbon Pocket application and website
User: any individual (or legal entity, where applicable) who uses the app and/or purchases neutralization services.
Carbon credit: a unit representing 1 tonne of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e) avoided, reduced, or removed by a certified climate mitigation project.
Neutralization (offset): compensation of the user's estimated emissions through the purchase and permanent retirement of certified carbon credits.
Public registry: an independent platform that records the issuance, transfer, and retirement of carbon credits (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard), ensuring traceability.
Carbon Pocket offers: (a) the calculation of the individual carbon footprint based on the transportation, diet, energy, and consumption habits informed by the user; (b) recommendations to reduce emissions; and (c) the neutralization of estimated emissions through certified carbon credits.
Calculated values are informational estimates based on recognized methodologies (GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and IPCC factors) and do not constitute official inventories nor are they intended to fulfill regulatory, tax, or corporate reporting obligations.
The process is executed in a traceable and documented manner:
The app may include free and paid plans, and neutralization may be charged as tCO₂e packages or recurring subscription, according to the pricing table displayed in the app.
| Plan | Description |
|---|---|
| Free | Calculator, recommendations, and basic rankings. |
| Subscription (recurring) | Advanced features + automatic monthly neutralization. |
| Offset package (one-off) | One-time neutralization of specific emissions (e.g., a trip). |
In-app payments are processed by the official stores (Apple App Store and Google Play), which act as merchants of record. Prices may include taxes according to local legislation (e.g., ICMS/ISS in Brazil, VAT in the European Union) and may vary according to the credit market and daily exchange rates.
Because the service involves the immediate delivery of digital service and the irreversible retirement of carbon credits, the following rules apply:
All refund requests must be made within 7 days of purchase, through the official support channels, and will be processed in accordance with the mandatory legislation of the user's country of residence, which prevails over this clause.
Carbon Pocket is committed to truthful, accurate, and verifiable environmental communication, aligned with the main global and local standards, including:
Accordingly, the app does not make claims of "zero emissions", "climate neutral", or "100% offset" without documentary evidence. Any neutralization statement will be accompanied by the certificate, the serial number of the credits, and the exact amount of tCO₂e retired, using precise language about what was actually done.
User personal data is processed in compliance with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD), the GDPR (European Union), and other applicable data protection laws, as described in the Carbon Pocket Privacy Policy.
The application, the Carbon Pocket brand, the website, and all content (texts, graphics, proprietary methodologies) are owned by Carbon Pocket. The user receives a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app, which does not grant any rights over the platform's intellectual property.
These Terms take effect on [date] and may be updated at any time. Material changes will be communicated at least [30] days in advance by email or in-app notification. Continued use after a change implies acceptance of the new conditions. CarbonPocket may suspend or terminate accounts in case of violation of these Terms or applicable law.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Brazil, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory consumer protection laws of the user's country of residence shall prevail over this clause where applicable and may not be waived. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be resolved through direct negotiation between the parties or through recognized online dispute resolution (ODR) platforms, including the European Commission's ODR platform, where available. If the dispute cannot be amicably resolved, the user may submit the matter to the competent courts of their country of residence, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in this clause restricts rights that cannot be waived under mandatory local legislation.
